for Cancer Surveillance and Control
The DHMH Center for Cancer Surveillance and
Control is responsible for assessing the cancer
control problem in Maryland and developing cancer
control priorities through collaboration with
the State Council on Cancer Control and other
state agencies. In addition the Center is playing
a major role in the formation, implementation
and coordination of the Cancer Prevention, Education,
Screening and Treatment program funded by the
Maryland Cigarette Restitution Fund Program.

(MSGIC) acts to promote coordinated development
and efficient use of resources amongst all entities
involved in the collection and/or use of spatial
data and GIS technologies in Maryland.

Vital Statistics Administration
The DHMH Vital Statistics Administration collects information from death certificates of all deaths in Maryland, including cancer deaths. The Maryland Vital Statistics Administration administers birth and death certification and develops reports summarizing mortality statistics for administrative and public health use.
