Men’s Health Commission

The Commission was established in 2005 by House Bill 681 (Health-General-Article § 13-2308-§ 13-2308, Annotated Code of Maryland) to administer and promote public awareness of men’s health issues in Maryland.

State Advisory Council on Physical Fitness

The Council is composed of a multidisciplinary, volunteer group of 25 Governor-appointed Maryland citizens.  The mission of the Maryland State Advisory Council on Physical Fitness is to educate, advise, and encourage the citizens of Maryland to gain health benefits and enhance the quality of their lives through regular physical activity.

State Advisory Council on Heart Disease and Stroke

The Advisory Council consists of 24 members appointed by the Governor, representing 18 organizations and the public.  The goal of the Council is to improve outcomes for heart disease and stroke patients in Maryland.

Maryland Coalition to Control Diabetes

The mission of the Maryland Diabetes Prevention and Control Coalition is to work to reduce the burden of diabetes on the citizens of Maryland by providing informational resources, technical assistance and support to organizations and agencies as they plan and implement activities to prevent and/or control diabetes.

Maryland Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyle Coalition

The mission of the Maryland Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyle Coalition is to coordinate efforts and resources to increase the number of Maryland residents who eat healthfully and engage in physically active behaviors.

Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant Advisory Committee

This Advisory Committee meets twice a year to advise the State on the use of PHHS Block Grant funds.  The establishment of this Committee is in accordance with PHHS legislation which guides the use of funds by the states.

Maryland State Advisory Council on Arthritis and Related Diseases

The mission of the Council is to promote, support, enrich, and improve the quality of life of individuals with arthritis and related diseases. The Council works collaboratively with a broad range of agencies and organizations in order to accomplish these core goals.
