DHMH realized several successes in FY ‘07.

  • Twenty leaders were trained to conduct evidence-based Arthritis Foundation (AF) Exercise and Aquatics classes in the community in FY ‘07.
  • The AF and mini-grantees conducted a total of four (12) workshops reaching 1,201 people with arthritis.  The workshops served to:

• Raise awareness of arthritis and related conditions
• Promote physical activity
• Provide useful resources

  • Eight mini-grants were awarded to: one (1) local health department, six (6) local area agencies on aging, and one (1) non-profit agency.
  • Nine hundred and eight-two participants attended the exercise classes conducted by these mini-grantees.  A total of 1, 613 people attended classes conducted by other DHMH trained leaders.
