Principal functions within this division focus on federal DHHS-HRSA funded projects:

Primary Care Office

• Managing and implementing the Primary Care Office (PCO) to improve statewide access to primary and other health care services, especially for the more economically vulnerable populations in the state
• Management of separate funding for a professional Loan Assistance Repayment Program (LARP), to promote the availability of physicians and other health professionals, is also a responsibility of the PCO.

State Office of Rural Health

• Managing and implementing the State Office of Rural Health (SORH) to promote access to health care services in Maryland's rural areas
• Management of separate funding for the Small Rural Hospital Improvement (SHIP) programs is also a responsibility of the SORH.
