Deamonte Driver Dental Project

In February, 2007, Deamonte Driver, a young boy from Prince George’s County, Maryland died from a brain infection caused by bacteria from tooth decay. Devastated by the news of Deamonte’s death, a group of Prince George's County dentists mobilized and sprang into action. With the help of many state and community leaders, the Deamonte Driver Dental Project was formed.  The Deamonte Driver Project provides basic dental services to low-income students in Prince George's and Montgomery County schools.

The Office of Oral Health is proud to partner with the Robert T. Freeman Dental Society Foundation, to deliver school-based oral health care services and provide a dental home where there are no available dental services. In addition, this project enlists dental providers in the community who have agreed to become Medicaid dental providers and offer complex dental treatment for children unable to be treated directly on the van.  To learn more about the Deamonte Driver Dental Project, click here.
